For our honeymoon, we chose to visit the Lake District for a few nights. A different kind of break to our usual sightseeing holidays, we wanted somewhere easy and relaxing, to take in the countryside and recover after all the excitement of the wedding.

Tuesday was our last full day away, so we decided to do some more travelling to see the sights. We first drove out to Marazion and St Michael’s Mount, which was beautiful; the village of Marazion was very quaint (although everyone around referred to it as a town despite it having no more than 1500 residents).

After our usual fry-up on Sunday morning, we set out for a brief trip to the shops in Exeter, via a walk around our side of the walls. Our hotel is right in the city centre next to the city walls, and the route we took gave us another good look at Exeter Cathedral on the way.

Following a three-hour drive down to Devon on the Thursday evening, we finally arrived at the hotel around 10pm. We grabbed a quick drink in the bar, but got to bed fairly quickly as we were both tired from the journey. The room was amazing, they gave us the bridal suite (I told Helen they must’ve given us an upgrade as I only booked a standard suite online).

On Monday morning, we woke up nice and early again, got another hearty breakfast, and set off to explore. First stop was Kilmarnock, a slightly larger town than Ayr just a short drive North. The town wasn’t very nice itself, it was fairly run-down with a lot of empty shops. There was some fairly interesting graffiti around though.
