Friday rolls around and we’re nearing the end of our holiday. One last adventure up near Inverness today before heading back down to Glasgow tomorrow. We had a little continental breakfast, and set off East out of Inverness.

Thursday morning, we had a continental breakfast again then set off to the North of Inverness up the A9. We drove over the Kessock bridge, Cromarty bridge, and Dornoch Firth bridge, before reaching our first destination of Skelbo Castle.

Tuesday

We woke up and went across the road from our Premier Inn in Stirling to a little cafe called Toast for a fancy breakfast. I had French toast with streaky bacon and syrup, Helen had smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. Very tasty, but fairly slow service, especially when it came to getting drinks.

Sebby and Scarlett were dropped off at the cattery on Friday afternoon so we could set off first thing on Saturday morning.

Basingwerk Abbey and Flint Castle

On a day off work without Helen, I took myself on an adventure past the Deeside Industrial Park and Shotwick Solar Park, just the other side of the Welsh border, to Flint. Here stood two medieval ruins that I’ve been wanting to visit for a while: Basingwerk Abbey and Flint Castle.
