Our penultimate day in Winchester started in a local cafe called Josie’s for some breakfast. I had a full-American, Helen had chicken benedict with crushed avocado. A great find, delicious food, would definitely recommend.

Many things planned for today, we had breakfast in our room (Helen bought us some cereal and milk last night so we didn’t have to spend another extortionate amount for a hotel breakfast), then got on the road South towards Portsmouth.

Romsey and Southampton

On Tuesday, we had planned to go to Portsmouth to see the boats and submarines, but while eating breakfast we checked their opening times and found out the submarine was closed on Tuesday’s, so that would have to wait until tomorrow. Today, instead of Portsmouth, we decided to visit Romsey (a small nearby town), and Southampton, since neither of us had ever been to either.

Salisbury and Winchester

We left home at around 9:30 on Sunday morning, bound for the South of England, arriving in Salisbury at lunch time ready for some food. We stopped in at the Ox Row Inn for a lovely friendly lunch and had a walk around the city.

Saturday was the beginning of the end of our holiday. We got up, had breakfast, got packed, and set off from Inverness one last time towards Glasgow for our last night away in Scotland.
