After dropping Sebby and Scarlett off at the cattery on Saturday night, we set off to Cornwall straight after breakfast on Sunday morning. We broke the drive up with a couple of stops, first at Gloucester Services which has a very out-of-place but excellent farm shop and bakery. Then at the Farmer’s Arms in Taunton for a Sunday Lunch.

The roasters weren’t like they are at home, but the food was delicious nonetheless, and filled us up for the rest of the journey. Helen had beef, I had pork.

We eventually got to the hotel just after 4pm, checked in, and settled into our room. It’s a lovely hotel, with a great balcony and view from the room.

After a couple of hours chilling out in the hotel room, expectedly so, we were too tired to go out anywhere interesting for dinner, so we ate in the hotel bar. Chicken burger for Helen, cheeseburger for myself. Very tasty!

Just upstairs from the hotel lobby, there was a small model of the site which I took a snap of. We’re staying in one of the rooms at the back there that look out over the grounds.

We planned ahead and booked a number of places to visit while away because of COVID restrictions, so here’s the week’s plan. Let’s see how much of it remains in-tact by the end of the week!

So no exciting sight-seeing today, just a lot of travelling and a lot of food. Excited to get started with the itinerary tomorrow though!
