Ludlow Castle and Medieval Christmas Fayre

Continued from Part 1

We woke up utterly freezing, and went to have a cooked breakfast, then get ready for the day. The shower was an improvement to the day before, but only in that water came out at an acceptable temperature… The water itself was little more than a dribble from the showerhead unfortunately, so another disappointing morning in the hotel. We went to check-out, expecting a discussion with the hotel manager, only to be told that no messages had been left for him, and he was going on holiday for the week that day so didn’t want to come in to work in the morning.

At the end of my tether, I refused to pay for the stay, left my phone number with the front desk for the manager to call me, and we left the hotel never to return. Suffice to say, this was the worst hotel stay we’ve ever had.

But not to let the hotel ruin the holiday for us, we went off on our adventures to Ludlow Castle for the Medieval Christmas Fayre. After a good hour’s drive, we arrived in Ludlow, parked right next to the castle, and made our way straight inside. It was very busy, even at 10am, and full of life.

We walked around all the stalls a couple of times, and joined in the festivities. I joined the archery range and got a bullseye with a bow and arrow (on the third arrow)! Helen was very impressed…

We spent a good couple of hours at the fayre, but as it got more and more crowded, we decided to set off home around midday (we were also both exhausted from a bad night’s sleep). So we set off on the drive back to Middlewich which only took a couple of hours, and had a late lunch back in the comfort of our own home.

All in all, fantastic trips to Ironbridge, Blists Hill, and Ludlow, but we were unfortunately let down by the hotel.
